個々のコンテクストに合う事物をデザインする
コンテクスチュアルデザイン研究室は、実社会のコンテクストを理解し、求められる事物を検討し、デザインします。環境、状況、流行、歴史・文化・社会的背景、人間関係など、コンテクスト（Context）という言葉には様々な意味が含まれます。デジタル技術が広く浸透し、めまぐるしく社会生活環境が変化する今日において、デザイン対象となる人や集団（コミュニティー）を取り巻くコンテクストも複雑化しています。それらをどう理解・解釈し、最先端の技術を取り入れながら何をどのようにデザインすればよいのか。本研究室は、コンテクスチュアルデザインを通して、今日そして近未来の社会生活、日常文化・慣習に貢献します。
芝浦工業大学デザイン工学部デザイン工学科に属する本研究室は、2023年4月1日に同学科に着任した瓜生大輔により開設されました。
Synthesizing Real-World Contexts into Design Excellence
The Contextual Design Lab understands the context in the real world, examines the required concepts, and works on creating appropriate designs. The word “context” includes various meanings such as environment, situation, trends, human relationships, and historical, cultural, and social backgrounds. In today’s world, where digital technology is widely spreading and the social life environment is rapidly changing, the context surrounding the people or groups (communities) targeted as design issues is becoming more complex. The lab strives to understand and interpret these contexts and to design using the latest technology in the most effective way. Through the application of contextual design approaches, our lab contributes to today’s and future social life, everyday practices, and cultures.
This laboratory, belonging to the Department of Engineering and Design in Shibaura Institute of Technology, was established on April 1, 2023, by Daisuke Uriu when he joined the department.
